Dendritic agate is born when water, heavy with iron and manganese oxides, wanders through tiny fractures in silica-rich stone, tracing invisible pathways deep underground. As time passes and the water slowly vanishes, it leaves behind delicate mineral branches that unfurl like ferns, trees, or frost on glass. Over millions of years, these fragile, inorganic “trees” become sealed within chalcedony—a fine-grained form of quartz—preserving them as miniature landscapes, each stone a piece of the earth’s own quiet artwork.
